Progressive Maritime Services
FAQ's:
There are many questions when it comes to buying a boat and having a survey performed. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions. We hope this helps, but if there are still unanswered questions, feel free to contact us.
Q: How much does a survey cost?
A: Cost can vary from boat to boat and surveyor to surveyor. Here at Progressive Maritime, we charge by the foot or by the hour, depending on the type of survey being performed. Your survey can cost anywhere between $10 a foot & $20 a foot. Draft and Damage surveys are charged on a individual basis.
Q: Who should be there during the survey?
A: The person paying is always welcome to be present during the survey. However, we do ask that everyone present allows the surveyor to focus on their job and keep conversation to a minimum. Friends, family members, brokers, and anyone else not performing a task is usually not permitted on the sea trial.
Q: When will I have results of the survey?
A: Ms. Hope will give a verbal report on the day of the survey, and have the written report to the client within 24-48 hours.
Q: How do I prepare for a Survey?
A: Be sure the boat is accessible for the surveyor, all personal belongings are out of the way, & all closets, hatches, and storage areas are unlocked. If a haul-out is being done, be sure to have a date & time set with the marina before the surveyor arrives. Any areas not cleared of personal property or accessible at the time of the survey will not be inspected.
